Chris TravaskisPlastic Re-Bags

Episode 21: Chris Travaskis - Going Plastic Free

First aired: 22 February 2017

Description:

Did you know every year 8 million tonnes of plastic go into the ocean, which is the equivalent of 16 shopping bags full per meter of coastline?

Or that 3/4 of all Australian coastline rubbish is plastic? (most of which is from Australian sources, and is concentrated around urban centers).

Or that numerous different kinds of wildlife are killed and maimed through entanglement, ingestion and other chemical effects of plastic?

or that 6 out of the top 10 most numerous items found during marine debris collection surveys were plastic?

This is not even taking any consideration into any potential impacts on humans themselves.

Local woman Chirs Travaskis shares her journey towards going plastic free, and some simple steps that can be taken in reducing single use plastics.
